The year was 2007. An idea was starting to come into reality. Creating from scratch is not a simple task. And the Cinema Novo motto, “a camera in hand and an idea in mind”, is much harder to execute than its words might suggest. Because despite often being romanticized, cinema doesn’t survive in the mere existence of ideas: it requires an elaborate process of creation and execution.
At Colateral Filmes, we nurture the process of bringing ideas into reality. We reach for excellence in every script written and every shot captured. Because although making something new may be complex, it becomes pleasurable and gratifying when done with will and commitment.

Is because of this storytelling desire that we made a commitment to act as a moving force for the Brazilian audiovisual market. Our role goes beyond content production: we also embrace the distribution of readymade works, contributing to sector’s wealth and diversity.

At Colateral Filmes, we believe that just producing a film is not enough, it needs to connect to its audience. To ease this path, we created our distribution branch: FORMATINHO. A company focused on small formats such as short films, music videos, and limited series, with the goal of opening paths and facilitating processes (an important note is that we do not distribute feature films).
Our catalog gathers more than 160 titles that, together, add up to more than 50 hours of content. We distribute these titles to the country’s top tv channels and streaming platforms. As partners, we have Canal Brasil, the Box Brazil group, BIS channel, Futura, the Box Brazil Play, Band Play, and Looke streaming services, and others. Here at FORMATINHO, we are proud to say that we distribute great titles in small formats.
